5 Ways to Celebrate Spring in the Twin Cities

Published:

Macy's Flower Show, Minneapolis, spring

Thankfully, the latest round of snow made a quick exit and now we can return to nurturing our spring fevers. These events will add some color to your day and reconnect you with a dose of nature (and extreme adorableness).

STEM Bunnies’ Bunny Garden
Now-March 26
Rabbits and bunnies are a popular gift around Easter time, but in many cases, families are unable to properly take care of them. Instead, the Bunny Garden offers kids (and adults!) a chance to interact with and learn about the floppy-eared animals and the variety of breeds through a scientific lens. If you can’t make it this weekend, enroll in Bunny Boot Camp, offered on select dates. stembunnies.com

Macy’s Flower Show
Now-April 3
Walk through the U.S. on a tour of our country’s vast landscapes. From the Southwest’s desert terrain and cacti, to the Rocky Mountain’s pine, to Northeast’s tulips, you’ll experience “American the Beautiful” all in one place. Snap some pictures, but savor the sweet fragrance—that’s something you can’t take home, unless of course, you pick up a potted plant in the gift shop afterwards. macys.com

Como Park Zoo & Conservatory’s Spring Flower Show
Now-April 24
Tour the zoo’s vibrant, yet warm collection of more than 10,000 bulbs from Holland. Sun strikes through the glass walls and ceiling of the Sunken Garden, which features a pond and canal centerpiece—you might even see a goldfish! This year’s show includes a bright (and spring appropriate) array of orange and yellow tulips, daffodils, crocus, hydrangeas, lilies, and more. comozooconservatory.org

Farm Babies at the Minnesota Zoo
Now-April 30
Spring is a time of rebirth, and the Wells Fargo Family Farm at the zoo is showing off the latest newborns, including chicks, piglets, lambs, calves, ducklings, goats, and bunnies. This weekend on Saturday only, meet Peter Rabbit, and on Saturday and Sunday, your kids can participate in craft activities. mnzoo.org

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Auxiliary Spring Plant Sale
May 7 & 8
Coming up quick is one of Minnesota gardeners’ favorite events. The annual spring plant sale gives all types of floral enthusiasts a chance to purchase unique and hard-to-find plant varieties and U of M introductions. While you’re there, explore more than 1,100 acres of public gardens and thousands of plants. arboretum.umn.edu
