A Bay Area Break

Go on a worry-free, weeklong vacation to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and Napa Valley, with the Minnesota Monthly Travel Club

Whether you go on vacation for adventure or relaxation, Minnesota Monthly Travel Club's first destination fits the bill. From Oct. 11-18, anyone who becomes part of the Travel Club will go on a seven-day trip to California and dive deep into three of California's largest draws: San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and the Napa Valley Wine Train. Perhaps you'll taste a flight of wine at a California winery, or maybe you'll feel the mist from Lake Tahoe during a paddlewheeler cruise. The best part? You don't have to plan any of it, and you'll have a guide the entire way.

Todd P. Walker, one of the Twin Cities' most prominent men around town, is the person you go to when you want to go where the action is, and this trip is no exception. As the main liaison of the trip, he and the team at Minnesota Monthly are going to connect you to the attractions, dining, accommodations, and locals that will make your trip most worthwhile.

The itinerary is the perfect mix, and it's long, so we'll just direct you to a list of highlights. Structured excursions include everything already mentioned as well as a stop at Old Town Sacramento, a trip on the Sierra Nevada Rail, a San Francisco city tour and bay cruise, and more, but there will be plenty of free time to find what makes each stop special to you personally. Think street art, hidden coffee shops, night life, eavesdrop architecturewhatever you love about traveling. This trip is all about choices, so if you want to explore a little more with some friends, you'll find some perfectly willing compatriots in the Travel Club, and if you want to go off on your own a bit, get ready to show off your pictures when you get back together for the night.

As you take a look at your calendar to see when you're free, just remember that preparation on your end is minimal—because of the trip's inclusive package, you don't have to worry about motorcoach transportation, roundtrip airfare from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, hotel transfers, or the admissions and sightseeing for anything on the itinerary. All you need to do is sign up, pack a bag, and get ready to smell the fresh, saltwater breeze of America's sunshine state.
