Check Out North Loop Fest Aug. 10

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend (predicted weather forecast is 77 and partly cloudy), your search can end right here.

You’re welcome.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, you should head on over to the North Loop in Minneapolis for North Loop Fest.

What’s North Loop Fest, you ask?

It’s the TC Urban Dash adventure race, complete with an “amazing race” format of deciphering puzzles, sprinting along urban trails (routes will vary, but participants can expect to run between 4 to 6 miles), and finishing a clue sheet, followed by a party in the parking lot of Cuzzy’s from 6 to 10 p.m., 507 Washington Ave. N. The teams with the highest point totals will get free entry into the Medtronic TC 10 Mile run Oct. 6. (Another great way to experience the beauty of Minnesota!)

But I digress. Back to the North Loop Fest … the party will consist of not only really cool people (like you!) enjoying live music, but also delicious food, children’s activities, and a garden “growing” one of my favorite local beers—Fulton.

[Ok, ok, gardens don’t really grow beer, the expression comes from the German word “biergarten” which means an outdoor area in which beer and other local foods are served.]

The North Loop Fest is a great way to celebrate the neighborhood and bring more people to a part of Minneapolis that isn’t always recognized as the cool little area it is. Too often, downtown and Uptown get all the glory and neighborhoods like this are overlooked. So rise up, North Loop fans! Tonight is your night!

The North Loop is bordered by 94 to the west, 394 and Hennepin to the southeast, the Mississippi River to the northeast, and Plymouth Avenue to the north. If you haven’t been here in awhile, you really should check it out. There’s a list of businesses on the North Loop site and a list of North Loop bars here.  Charming boutique shops have also opened in the area, as mentioned in this Pioneer Press article.

Call some friends and make a date. North Loop Fest is the perfect way to spend a beautiful summer evening.
