Honoring the Brave

Published:

Thousands of valiant men and women dedicate their lives to protecting our country. The integrity, selflessness, courage, and loyalty of all military personnel and family members is something that should be acknowledged every day.

For the third consecutive year, Blue Star Museums has decided to applaud America’s active duty personnel all summer long by bringing together our country’s military and art communities.

Through a collaboration of the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense, more than 2,000 museums across America are offering free admission to our nation’s active duty military and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Forty participating museums are located in Minnesota alone, including the Minneapolis Walker Art Center, The American Swedish Institute, and the Minnesota Children’s Museum.

Summer access to museums nationwide offer military families a small gesture from our country to recognize the powerful gesture made by all who serve to preserve and protect our beautiful home. The hope is that free visits to museums all over the country can serve as a family outing, letting military families know we acknowledge their strength, the importance of family, and that they are all heroes.

This is the land of the free and home of the brave; this summer Blue Museums honor the brave.

Find participating museums near you at nea.gov/bluestarmuseums.
