Meet the Journeys Travel Bloggers

For the past 11 years, Chrissy Sarinske has been the special sections writer/editor at Minnesota Monthly and Midwest Home magazines, covering everything from travel, health, and lifestyle features to interior design and building trends. She’s a word nerd with an insatiable curiosity about people and loves camping, reading, drinking craft beer, traveling throughout Minnesota, and organizing get-togethers with friends. She lives in St. Paul with her husband, Aaron, and two (very, very, very active) sons. One of her favorite quotes is by Ayn Rand: “Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark. In the hopeless swamps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all, do not let the hero in your soul perish and leave only frustration for the life you deserved, but never have been able to reach. The world you desire can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.”

Valerie TurgeonValerie Turgeon is the assistant editor for Minnesota Monthly. She was born and raised in the North Star State, but feels like she still has so much more to explore. Her favorite vacation spots in Minnesota include natural elements—watching bald eagles soar in bluff country, floating on a lake up north, or rollerblading on a rural path. Recently, she got her first hiking pack, and after a long winter, is looking forward to testing her endurance and reconnecting with the outdoors on the Superior Hiking Trail.

Melissa FaulknerMelissa Faulkner sees herself as having two paths: she can be a country singer with the stage name Melissa Leigh. Or she can be a rap goddess, and the people will call her Reck-Lyss. She aspires to live in a city that has more summer than winter, and to own a Pomeranian Husky named Pocket. The other details will just be value added.
