Brunswick Bailout


No one wants weather to ruin a great trip, so considering Minnesota's proclivity for extreme temperatures (and quick changes), it's always wise to have an indoor activity or two in mind when traveling here—then the hiking or biking aren't the only ways to get some energy out while still making memories. 

That's where a place like Brunswick Zone comes in. Though it's a national franchise (100+ locations in 18 states), our neighbors in all directions (except Canada) don't have them. Minnesota has four locations: Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Eden Prairie, and Lakeville. And they're all about fun.

bowlingThough they're known most for bowling (34+ lanes), the lazer tag may be the hidden gem. The entrance is typically near the arcade, past the Big Buck Hunter, air hockey, Dance Dance Revolution, and more. One-on-one or in teams, it's great for groups of all ages—even kids with adults. All's fair in the huge, dark, double-level course full of baracades, ramps, and harmless but exhilarating guns with vests that light up (and track your scores for eventual bragging rights). Yes, I'm talking from experience—it's awesome. And I'm nowhere near ten.

Adults also can head to the bar & grill and watch a sports game or just relax while the kids release some steam. The facilities are remarkably clean and well kept, and surprisingly affordable. Put $10 on a playing card and you can play lazer tag, a handful of games, and even take a picture in the photo booth before running out. Check their website for ongoing deals, promotions, and each sites' operating hours.

Of course, there are all sorts of other rainy day activities you can consider as well, like Mall of America, brewery tours, The Children's Museum, and more.

Just remember, there's all sorts of fun here, rain or shine.
