It’s official: Even the leaves are confused.
From 75 to 45 in one day, dry to rainy, sunny and sallow, Minnesota has always been an unpredictable weather roller-coaster, and Minnesotans equally happily and grudgingly go along for the ride. Each year, it’s a mystery whether the first snow fall will come by Halloween, or Thanksgiving, or long before. And this fall is no different. Will the leaves continue to turn and linger in gorgeous red and golden hues, or just drop as they are, a bit inbetween, and move on to winter?
I say enough guessing—it’s time to plan a day trip and get out there!

It’s full of day-trips and itineraries to places like Lake Pepin or the North Shore. Visit a refuge for bird watching, tour a scultpure park or shop a harvest festival for apples along the way. Maybe dine at a remote (but great) eatery or visit a historical site. But above all, look up, look around, Minnesota has quite the views.
It’s really the perfect time to appreciate fall in Minnesota—just make sure to take it all in before it disappears.
