Sid the Science Kid at Minnesota Children’s Museum

Published:

We watch a lot of PBS Kids in my house, and one of my boys’ favorite shows is Sid the Science Kid (right up there with Word Girl and Wild Kratts). I love that the teacher on the show (shout out to Teacher Suzie!) encourages curiosity through interesting experiments, catchy songs, and important lessons. With this show, kids learn that science is fun. (It’s no surprise that Jim Henson’s company was behind the concept—you know if Henson’s name is attached, it’s going to be good.)

From now through May 31, 2015, kids can step into Sid’s world and become “science kids” at Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! at the Minnesota Children’s Museum.  They can investigate around Sid’s house, at school in the Super Fab Lab, and on the playground. The exhibit includes hands-on activities and scientific tools meant to get kids thinking about simple machines, the laws of motion, magnetism, and the five senses.

Sid himself will be making an appearance at the Children’s Museum on Saturdays April 4, 11, 18 and 25 in the atrium at 6 p.m., and April 7, 11, 14 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Imagination Corner. Bring your camera.

The Minnesota Children’s Museum is open Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Museum admission is $9.95/person ages 1-101. Members and kids under age one are free.
