Chill Out at Breezy Point’s Ice Fest

Published:

Between Minneapolis’ Holidazzle and St. Paul’s upcoming Winter Carnival, the Twin Cities has some great ways to celebrate winter. Well, I've found that the same can be said for up north. Take a look at all the activities that Breezy Point Resort on Pelican Lake near Brainerd has to offer during its 17th annual Ice Fest this weekend (Jan. 6 & 7):

  • Bonfires
  • Live music
  • Pancake breakfast
  • Hot air balloon rides
  • Kid’s fishing program
  • Dogsled rides
  • Craft fair
  • Snow golf
  • Ice slide
  • World championship ice auger contest
  • Pond hockey
  • Horse drawn trolley rides
  • Fireworks
  • And more

Pretty cool selection of activities, and most are free (some require prior registration to participate). Breezy Point Resort has been in operation for more than 80 years and offers lodging in guest rooms, condominiums, vacation homes, and cabins. Amenities at the resort include an indoor pool, game room, and more. The Breezy Point Hockey Center has an ice arena for both hockey and figure skating. If you want to stay there this winter, check Breezy Point’s list of winter deals to see if one is right for you.

Whether or not you come up for ice fest, Breezy Point and the Brainerd Lakes Area feature many winter fun activities, such as ice skating, snowmobiling, snow tubing, ice fishing, downhill skiing at Ski Gull, cross-country skiing on 240-miles of groomed and ungroomed Brainerd-area trails, and more!
