With both our national and Minnesota state parks celebrating anniversaries this year (100th and 125th respectively), it’s a great time to start exploring, or revisiting some of our state parks. Rachel describes her favorites—all eight along the North Shore, complete with beautiful waterfront campsites, great swimming options, and easy access to the Superior Hiking Trail. The parks close to the metro by the St. Croix River are also worth considering. They can be fairly crowded in the summer and fall, but offer breathtaking sights in the winter as well.
To learn more about the state parks—such as the steepest hike at John A Latsch near Winona, the best birding at Frontenac on the Mississippi River—check out our Minnesota State Parks To Do List.
