Elizabeth’s Pick: Extended Happy Hours–Hooray!

I realize that the term “happy hour” implies imbibing before the official work day ends, but how many of us can actually escape the office early enough to take advantage of happy hour specials that typically end at 5 o’clock? There’s nothing like running down Nicollet Mall in high heels only to miss last call on $3 taps. (The irony that I have no problem paying $6 on a Saturday night does not escape me.) Which is why I am thrilled to see more bars and restaurants extending their happy hours. It’s a win-win for everyone, except maybe your waistline. Here are a few of my favorites, but please weigh in with yours!

$3 house wine and tap beers, $5 martinis, and $5 family-sized appetizers like bruschetta and giant meatballs in marinara sauce.
3:30–6:30 p.m., Sunday–Friday

Available in The Lounge only
Deep discounts on a long list of beer, wine, and exotic cocktails spike with house-made infusions.
4:30–7 p.m. every day

Available at Prohibition and The Living Room
$5 select frou-frou cocktails and small plates including surprisingly good sushi rolls
5–7 p.m. every day
