The Most Instagrammable Twin Cities Cafes and Restaurants of 2017

Milkjam Creamery

Famous for its “I Love Ice Cream” neon sign and surprisingly unique flavors of ice cream, the Milkjam Creamery in South Minneapolis is home to the All of Them sundae, with 16 scoops of ice cream. Some of the flavors include Champagne with sprinkles, charcoal-colored cocoa, and even a flavor that tastes like milk and cereal.

Built as a gathering place for the community, Eastside not only serves amazing food and classically inspired drinks, but is home to one of the most Instagrammed floors of any Minneapolis restaurant. If you’re looking to show off some fun shoes on your Instagram feed, Eastside’s elegant tile flooring is the perfect setting.

The original indoor/outdoor coffee shop on Washington Avenue was recently joined by a new location in Linden Hills, and the two locations have taken Instagram by storm with multiple color marble countertops, a crepe menu, and trendy Matcha lattes. Penny’s floor-to-ceiling windows and neon lights make it the perfect atmosphere to spend hours working, studying, or catching up with friends.

Bachelor Farmer Cafe

The owners of Bachelor Farmer in the North Loop, featuring Nordic-inspired dishes, also own a café—TBF Café—featuring its own signature blend called the North Loop Blend. Designed by James Dayton Design, the space is lined with tiles on the floors and ceilings and is home to red accent chairs and gold light fixtures. The tile walls of TBF Café are a popular backsplash on Instagram.

Black Coffee & Waffle Bar

Black Coffee & Waffle Bar, with locations on Marshall Avenue in St. Paul and Como Avenue in Southeast Minneapolis, serves waffles that could be considered a work of art. Some of my favorite waffles there are apple strudel waffle, strawberry cheesecake waffle, and the sweet s’mores waffle. Most waffles are served with a mountain of whipped cream to satisfy even the biggest sweet tooth.

Betty Danger’s Country Club

There is a Ferris wheel for drinking and dining. Enough said. Betty Danger’s Country Club is located in the Northeast Art’s District and offers Ferris wheel rides in the summer, a tini mini golf near the patio, and a Tex Mex menu. The wheel offers spectacular views of the city and the quirky décor makes any visit more fun.

Spoon and Stable

If your Instagram is primarily snapshots of charcuterie or beautiful cocktail presentations, this is the place for you. Spoon and Stable, with exposed brick and ceiling beams, is located in an old horse stable in downtown Minneapolis. From the minute you walk in, it feels like an upscale environment. Critics rave about dishes being polished and having a certain perfection not found anywhere else. Note: For those celebrating a birthday, cotton candy is served at the end of the meal for a tasty twist.

Norseman Distillery

This trendy warehouse restaurant, with its beautiful artwork and string lights lining the ceiling, is known for fun drinks. There's a large neon sign on an exposed brick wall—perfect for pictures. The distillery offers a mixology class and even has a Secret Tiki Menu.
