Three Things to Eat This Week: June 20-26

I am brunching the bejesus out of this week and I could not be happier about it. The June issue was all things early morning eating and I’ve been having a blast tasting my way through all of the dishes including my favorites and the new discovery suggestions of my MNMO colleagues. (Check out our segment on WCCO for more goodies.) Anyway, here’s what I’m eating this week.

Five Watt Coffee Busy Beaver
Rain or shine, hot or freezing, this is the drink that draws me over to this South Minneapolis coffee shop. Milk and espresso are all dressed up with a little maple, a grind of black pepper, and a drizzle topper of molasses for a deeply satisfying way to add a little bounce to your morning. Pimento Jamaican Kitchen
When it’s hot outside, I want it hot inside my mouth. (Do not over think that sentence.) The char-kissed chicken inside this still sort of new Eat Street restaurant gets even better when you douse it in the Kill Dem Wid It sauce. The dark and salty, habanero, and lime-kicked sauce packs enough delicious heat that I swear it made my eyebrows sweat. pimentokitchen.com

All the things at the Taste of the Nation Hotlist
My favorite food fundraising event of the year is this Thursday! This year the benefit for No Kid Hungry will take place at the Nicollet Island Pavillion. I’m not sure what sounds more delicious—the food or the cocktail line up. Cocktails from Tattersall, Norseman, Bittercube, and more will be poured, and restaurants such as Rose Street Patisserie, Hola Arepa, Marin, The Rabbit Hole, and Glam Doll Donuts will be sharing samples. Tickets are still available for purchase, but I have two general admission tickets that I’d like to give away.
