Where to Find Donuts Downtown

The recent increase in Twin Cities donut shops makes it easier for downtown Minneapolis office workers to find a sweet pick-me-up during the work week. Minnesota Monthly editor Rachel Hutton and MPR host John Birge discuss some of the newest downtown Minneapolis additions in this week’s Moveable Feast.

Old favorite Lone Doughnut has moved to St. Louis Park, but other sugary options have taken over. Angel Food Bakery, located upstairs from Hell’s Kitchen, offers letter-shaped donuts among its wide range of baked goods. Rachel says they’re great for spelling out a message as a fun and tasty gift. Glam Doll Donuts on Eat Street delivers throughout downtown Minneapolis for a small $5 fee.

Possibly most exciting to Rachel is the new Bogart’s Doughnut Co. kiosk in the IDS Center. Located in the underused Crystal Court, Bogart’s features creative and delicious flavors like a strawberry cardamom jam-filled donut and lavender cake donut with a vanilla bean glaze. Rachel’s favorite is their brown butter-glazed raised donut made with Bogart’s signature brioche dough.
