Rock the Sock

As much as I attest to being a lady who likes to look polished, and a hairstylist to boot, I will readily admit that I LOVE a lazy hair day. In the past I have found that the second or third day of going shampoo-free can get a little too grimy, and the guilt of looking like a music festival camper overrides the moisture drink I was trying to give my tresses. That is, until I discovered the sock bun!

See, the bun is an age-old updo, harking back to the Victorian Age, Audrey Hepburn, and even Princess Leia. All good things will trend again, and there has been a modern revival! So put those day-old locks to good use, and, hey, that sock that you’ve been saving since its partner disappeared in the clothes dryer? Hang on to that, too!

You may need a few handy tools to recreate your new coif. (All products pictured are available at root Salons.)

And here's my easy, basic sock bun tutorial video:

Once you've mastered the basic moves, you can start adding in pretty details and variations to your bun. Here are a few styles I liked, and they could be fun to try!
