Nature of Style: Spring Fashion Trends

Published:

The Look: Zero + Maria Cornejo top, $695 @ Grethen House. Styling by Jahna Peloquin, flowers by munster rose, hair and makeup by Kate Erickson, Photos by Bill Phelps.

This year’s spring fashions signify a return to nature, full of organic textures, botanical elements, and soft colors. In the following pages, spring’s trends are stripped to their essence, accented with pale metallic accents, soft pleats, and relaxed, architectural shapes.

The New White Shirt
The Oxford shirt gets a re-do in spring's deconstructed styles, as designers got creative with this staple garment.

Sparkle
Sequins for spring? Yes, indeed. No longer reserved for the holidays, sparkle is a great way to make your warm-weather wardrobe pop.

  • Needle & Thread dress, $569 @ Bumbershute
  • Mondo Mondo cuff, $225, and Rachel Comey sandals, $414 @ Mille

Victorian
Delicate pleating offers a subtle nod to one of spring’s most popular trends: romantic, Victorian-inspired details.

The Slip Dress
Spring’s most sensual trend takes lingerie out of the bedroom and onto the street.

  • Organic John Patrick slip dress, $180 @ Grethen House
  • Elizabeth and James jacket, $495 @ Nordstrom
  • Rachel Comey sandals, $414 @ Mille

Lightweight Denim
Denim for spring is nothing new, but designers are always creating fresh takes on the classics, such as this wrap jacket.

  • MM6 Maison Margiela jacket, $695 @ Grethen House
  • Rachel Comey jeans, $345 @ Idun
  • Tod’s platform wingtip oxfords, $675 @ Nordstrom
  • Annie Costello earrings, $225 @ Mille

Silver
From fluid lamé to coated leather, make a shimmering statement in metallic silver this spring.

  • Zero + Maria Cornejo top, $695 @ Grethen House

Fringe
This swingy trim is a great way to add texture and depth to your spring wardrobe.

  • Ulla Johnson fringed top, $345 @ Mille

Pineapple Print
Spring’s juiciest trend is quirkier than your average spring floral, and an easy way to add a little pep to your look.

  • Sea New York skirt, $357, @ Mille
  • 2nd Row Jewelry bracelets, $88 each @ Grethen House
  • Jimmy Choo sandal, $750 @ Nordstrom
