This week in shopping and style includes spring trunk shows by local designers, maker markets & more.

Sisterhood Fashion Show:

This third annual fashion event showcases the talents of young social entrepreneurs through spoken word and fashion. The runway show features looks designed by apparel design students from St. Catherine University as well as Dress for Success Twin Cities, Opitz Outlet Annex, and Sisterhood Boutique, a secondhand women’s clothing store on Riverside Avenue founded by a group of young East African women. The Laundress at Mona Williams:

Samantha Rei & Christopher Straub Sample Show:

Former Project Runway contestants (and local designers) Christopher Straub and Samantha Rei are coming together for their first joint sample sale. Laura Hlavac Spring Debut:

Local designer Laura Hlavac brings her new spring collection to Poppy’s three locations. The modern line of knit-based clothing includes dresses, skirts, tops, and sweaters is geared toward women with active lifestyles. Poppy’s Snelling location in St. Paul will host a happy hour kickoff event with the designer on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and shoppers can receive 15 percent off Friday through Sunday. Niche Spring Pop-up:

Nisswa-based fashion boutique, Niche, hosts its annual spring pop-up in St. Paul this weekend. Shop the store’s spring collection of women’s clothing and accessories-most under $75-featuring a mix of bright colors, boho-inspired styles, and everyday basics. Gallery Opening: From Underwear to Outerwear:

The Hennepin History Museum celebrates 150 years of Minnesota fashion in From Underwear to Outerwear, an exhibition of wearables from its permanent collection representing Hennepin County. Timed in conjunction with the museum’s 80th anniversary, the show includes everything from turn-of-the-century ball gowns worn by famous local names like the Daytons and Pillsburys to everyday garb worn by regular folks. Still Kickin Monthly Pop-up:

Shop athletic wear and branded gear from Still Kickin at its studio during this monthly pop-up event. The local nonprofit helps a Still Kickin Hero in need each month with sales from its merch. Mill City Farmers Market:

The Mill City Farmers Market has headed indoors for the season. Shop from more than 40 local farmers, food vendors, and artisans for unique, handmade items and groceries. Take in a cooking demonstration from Mill City Cooks, and shop for handmade goods by eight talented local makers, including Hat Make by Celina Kane, Indigo & Snow, House of Talents, and Larissa Loden Jewelry. Lowertown Pop:

This third annual event is a Minnesota pop-up maker market and charity/crowdsourcing fundraiser hosted by Union Depot. The 50-plus makers span goods such as handmade hats, jewelry, skincare and soaps, candles, handbags, ceramics, glass objects, wood goods, prints and cards, baked goods, and more from names including Karen Morris Millinery, Excelsior Candle Co., LES Bags, and Bare Naked Soap. The event also includes maker demonstrations, music, food, and drinks from local distillers and brewers. One-hundred percent of ticket proceeds will be donated to nonprofit Walk Talk Connect and one Minnesota maker. Tickets are $8 via uniondepot.org/events/lowertownpop or $10 at the door. ACG Spring Trunk Show:

Local women’s clothing label, ACG, celebrates the arrival of spring with a trunk show featuring designer Anna Chambers-Goldberg’s new spring collection. Shop pieces from the new line, which features organic materials, a soft palette, unique hand-dying techniques, and easy-breezy silhouettes, and meet the designer. “Spring Is in the Air” Floral Experience:

Immerse yourself in a unique floral experience with “Spring Is in the Air,” a new floral experience presented by Galleria in partnership with Bachman’s Floral. View floor-to-ceiling arrangements, floral installations, and specialty gardens made of springtime favorites such as hyacinths and tulips throughout the Edina shopping center, and view floral-inspired fashions and home goods at Galleria stores. Arctic Market: A Winter Pop-up:

The Minneapolis Craft Market hosts the final edition of its Arctic Market winter pop-up of the season with an indoor market at Lakes & Legends Brewing Company. Shop and meet more than 25 local makers while sipping farm-to-table Belgian-style beers. Goods include handmade jewelry, clothing, prints and cards, wood goods, ceramics, candles, and more.
