Chambers Says “Hello D’Amico.”
Wishes Farewell to Culinary Concepts.
MINNEAPOLIS – June 29, 2009 – D’Amico & Partners will take over the food and beverage management of Chambers, the art hotel in downtown Minneapolis, effective July 20. The change includes the hotel’s restaurant, Chambers Kitchen, which is currently managed by Culinary Concepts. The restaurant will be replaced by a new, as yet-to-be-named concept by D’Amico &Partners, whose former flagship restaurant, D’Amico Cucina, just closed its doors on June 27.
“We are thrilled to be working with Ralph and the Chambers. It is without a doubt, the most exciting hotel property in the Twin Cities. We are confident that we can develop restaurant, bar and catering concepts that compliment the quality and creativity of the Chambers hotel,” said Richard D’Amico, president of D’Amico & Partners, Inc.
It’s an amiable separation between Chambers and Culinary Concepts.
“We have enjoyed our partnership with Chambers and serving Jean-Georges’ cuisine to the Minneapolis community,” said Phil Suarez, Partner, Culinary Concepts by Jean-Georges. “We look forward to returning to the city with another fine restaurant in the future.” The restaurant company will continue to grow its portfolio of properties around the world, with upcoming openings in Washington, DC, Boston and Deer Crest.
“I’m a huge fan of both Jean-Georges and his food,” said Burnet. “I wish him and his partners all the best, and I’ll continue to visit his restaurants in New York whenever I can. We’ve had a nice run, and I think Jean-Georges has made an indelible impact on the Twin Cities restaurant scene.”
While the closing of D’Amico Cucina was completely separate and unrelated to the plans for Chambers, it did present the hotel and D’Amico with an opportunity to work together, according to Burnet.
“If this was going to happen, the timing almost couldn’t be better,” added Burnet. “There seems to be a bit of serendipity at play here. Richard D’Amico and his partners have a lot of exciting ideas about what they can bring to Chambers.”
Details for Chambers’ new restaurant and the hotel’s overall food and beverage concept are still being finalized and are expected to be announced in the next few weeks.
