Madden’s Releases Chef Line-Up for Late Summer Bash

And just like that, we have arrived—summer weather, sun block, mosquitoes, days at the pool. This weekend barbeques will roar right past spring and straight into a much-anticipated start of summer.

For those of you itching to make summer plans, Madden’s on Gull Lake just released their chef line-up for their late summer bash, the Food and Wine Weekend. They are bringing back the cool crew with Chefs Doug Flicker, Erik Anderson, Jamie Malone, Jim Christiansen, and Robert Wohlfell out of the metro, as well some out-of-towners with Jenn Louis from Portland, Oregon, and Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman out of Memphis, Tennessee.

The event is blast. Last year there was oyster shucking and wine sipping on the lake, chef burger contests, sit-down fine dining events, and impromptu bonfires way past bedtime. This year Madden’s is listing similar stuff, along with an authentic Jamaican cookout, whole animal cooking, and meat smoking demos. It’s like summer camp for grownups.

If you’ve never been to Brainerd, last year was my first trip; the lake area has a special feel, lazy and airy where everything revolves around leisure. With the weather making such a late shift, that sounds pretty good to me these days.
