Foodie Finds on South Nicollet Avenue

May marks Minnesota Monthly’s Best Neighborhoods issue, and there are some serious foodie hotspots in the bunch: Northeast Minneapolis, downtown Wayzata, the North Loop, and the like. On this episode of Moveable Feast, John and Rachel talk about a neighborhood that has been revitalized in recent years and is now full of energy, life, and most importantly—good food.

South Nicollet Avenue, between 35th and 38th Streets, has seen a boom of hot restaurants in recent years. Blackbird kicked off the wave of new dining, followed by two new Kim Bartmann restaurants, Pat’s Tap and Kyatchi.

The brick-and-mortar location of the Hola Arepa food truck has been drawing in big crowds with its Latin American flavors and new cocktails. The area is also home to Five Watt Coffee, a gourmet coffee shop serving up inventive lattes infused with cardamom and cocktail bitters. And coming soon is south Nicollet’s newest hotspot: Nighthawks, an upscale-diner concept from Landon Schoenefeld of Haute Dish.
