Minneapolis' Best Ramen at Ramen Kazama

Ramen Kazama opened its doors recently, and MnMo’s Rachel Hutton explains to MPR’s John Birge why it’s quickly becoming a favorite in the Twin Cities.

The ramen joint dishes up a bowl made with chicken broth and fried chicken with shiso leaf that holds a sweet flavor (Rachel grows the green in her garden). The dish is reminiscent of American chicken noodle soup with a familiar warmth. Beyond ramen, they also offer great appetizers including gyoza, seaweed cucumber salad, and lightly seared beef tenderloin.

Nestled at 34th and Nicollet, the new restaurant has a cool personal vibe with a communal feel. But be prepared to wait if you’re not there right at 5 p.m. when it opens. The line starts early, and they don’t take reservations or takeout orders.

If the line is a tad too long, John and Rachel recommend going over to Masu
