DeRushaEats: Food Battles

I’m in the middle of a State Fair detox, bringing salads to work every night for dinner, heading back to the gym. There’s something about the post-fair-food-gorging that makes me want to get back to eating healthy.

But I really enjoyed this fun story in today’s Star Tribune that talks about how our choices about food say a lot about us.

“Erin Tait, Olson: Summit says, ‘I designed my deck.’ Grain Belt says, ‘I built my deck.'”

Love that. It got me thinking about my food choices…

CSA vs. Farmers’ Market: We’re in the Featherstone Farm CSA, splitting a giant box with our neighbors each week. Does that say suburban organic hippie, or too lazy to go to the Farmers’ Market?

Saffron vs. 112 Eatery: I pick Saffron! Which says: I’m smarter than all those trend-chasers. Or it says: I’m too lazy to fight the 112 crowds!

Mickey’s Diner vs. Al’s Breakfast: I’m glad both are here, but I have no interest in returning to either.

Champagne vs. Sparking Wine: Sparkling all the way. I like bubbles too much to just restrict myself to the expensive French stuff.

Surly vs. Lift Bridge: Do I have to pick a favorite child?

Cocktail vs. Beer: I’ll pick the cocktail almost every time. That says: I want a bartender to make me something I can’t make at home.

Punch vs. Pizza Nea: It’s gotta be Nea, but by a nose. I love the taste of Punch’s crust—but it’s soggy so often. What does that say about me?

So what are your this versus that examples? What do your food choices say about your personality? I can’t wait to see your comments.
