MnMo editor Rachel Hutton and MPR Classical’s John Birge talk about booya, a broth-based meat and vegetable soup that has mysterious origins (perhaps it comes from mishearing the French word “bouillon”) but close community ties throughout the Midwest—it is an upper Midwest fall tradition to cook booya outside in large kettles and share with everyone around the area. For this year, there are two booya feeds left: one on October 23 at St. Agnes Parish and another on October 29 at the North St. Paul VFW.
