AFTON ALPS FAMILY FALL FAIR AND SLOPESIDE EQUIPMENT SWAP
Get the family into the lifelong sport of skiing with a kickoff celebration, fun run and great gear deals
Weekends — Friday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 15.
WHY: Because winter is coming and we all need a way to embrace it. Because skiing is a lifelong sport. And because Afton Alps is our own big-time resort with a small-town feel. It’s time to get into skiing already at the Afton Alps Family Fall Fair and Slopeside Swap.
WHAT: Need some new gear to shine on the slopes this winter? Make a swap — or just buy — at the Afton Alps Family Fall Fair and Slopeside Swap, one of the Midwest’s largest ski and snowboard swaps. Sell current ski and snowboard gear and upgrade equipment for this winter season.
Thousands of new and used winter sports items— like skis, snowboards, poles, boots, goggles and clothing — will be on sale. Plus, this is the time to score deals on Afton Alps Ski and Ride School programs and season passes, including the Epic Pass. The Epic Pass grants Afton Alps skiers and snowboarders unlimited access to Afton Alps, as well as 14 resorts and ski areas around the world, including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado and Park City in Utah; and new for the 2017-2018 season, Whistler Blackcomb.
Bring everyone along for free chair lift rides and hayrides, a bouncy house, pumpkin painting, live music, a food truck and other refreshments each weekend. Afton Alps Fall Fair visitors will enjoy Minnesota’s only slopeside walk-in movie at dusk on Fridays, Oct. 5 and Oct. 13.
New this year, take on the 5K Snowflake Run and kids’ short course for just $30, which includes participation in the run and an early season lift ticket. Registration information: http://www.aftonalps.com/events/events/snowflake-fun-run.
WHAT ELSE?: Reclaim your ski bunny status — or own it for the first time! Last season, Afton introduced the “I Will Ski” program for first-time adult skiers, or those ready to get back into the sport after a long break. Now, in partnership with Burton Snowboards, it has added “I Will Ride.” Each course is only $349, includes four classes plus lift tickets, and gives participants FREE ELAN SKIS (a $700 value) and bindings, or a new Burton Snowboard, plus a super fun celebratory shindig at the conclusion of the program. (Yeah, this deal will likely sell out at this event, you’re totally right).
Afton Alps and Vail Resorts encourage us all to enjoy a great ski adventure this winter — because skiing can be a lifelong sport. And “I Will Ski” and “I Will Ride” deliver first-timers and back-at-its the confidence and skills to enjoy Afton (plus, hello…free gear!), and then gain confidence to gear up for a Mountain Experience at one of Vail Resorts’ properties.
WHEN: Two weekends: Friday, Oct. 6 – Sunday, Oct. 9 and Friday, Oct. 13 – Sunday, Oct. 15. Check AftonAlps.com for specific event times.
WHERE: Afton Alps – The Alps Chalet: 6600 Peller Ave. S., Hastings, Minnesota
