Black Label Movement (BLM) announces its 11th Minnesota season BLM 11 : TEAMWORK  for a two week season at the Ritz Theater in the heart of northeast Minneapolis January 12-21, 2018. The season celebrates past and present collaborations with a multiplicity of artmakers and an eminent cancer researcher University of Minnesota biomedical engineer David Odde. The season features the premiere of BLM Artistic Director Carl Flink’s Animal Velocity, originally workshopped through a 2017 James Sewell Ballet’s BalletWorks residency, and the Minnesota premiere of his I Am a Rope Bringing This Down, a commission inspired by the artwork of visual artist Anne Swan. The season also features the vocal talents of Queen Drea, a recently recipient of a 2017 American Composers Forum Minnesota Emerging Composers Award. The season will also include remounts of two Sage Award nominated works by Flink: HIT (2011) and MERGE (2016) created in collaboration with Contempo Physical Dance’s Marciano Silva Dos Santos. The season also includes a lobby exhibition of artwork and photography by Bill Cameron, Lara Hanson and Anne Swan.
