Exhibiting Artist: Lindsy Halleckson
January 5 – February 26, 2017
In Lindsy Halleckson’s solo exhibition mindfulness and the connection with nature are the two basic themes. Halleckson believes that among the many relationships that define the human condition, our connection with the environment is primary and that reconnecting to the land is key to finding peace within ourselves. As meditations on the role that natural silence and space plays in personal well-being, the painting surfaces and its color are built up over many weeks and months starting with a wet canvas and using acrylic paint, thinning agents, and other acrylic media. The resulting richness, subtlety, and depth of color pushes the limitations of the acrylic media while creating a final product that is commanding and emotional yet understated.
