Sonomento, MacPhail Center for Music's premier chorus of fifty mixed adult voices, joins forces again with the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Yuri Ivan, to perform the Minnesota premier of an epic choral cantata by Slovakian composer, Eugen Suchon (1908-93).
The Psalm of the Carpathian Lands, composed in 1938, is a 40-minute epic symphonic poem and cantata for chorus, orchestra and tenor solo. The music is intensely exciting with the grandeur and sweep of Stravinsky, Puccini and Richard Strauss. It requires large orchestral forces and a full chorus of powerful voices, as well as an extremely dramatic, Wagnerian-style tenor voice.
$15 for adults, free for youth.
