Wool and woodstoves, friends and fibers: it all weaves into a cozy tapestry during the Northern Fiber Retreat. This five-day event celebrates all manner of fiber arts, featuring seminars, community gatherings and coursework from long-time North House instructors as well as new guests artisans. North House is happy to collaborate with the Grand Marais Art Colony to bring you more than two dozen course options: build your own wooly adventure spinning, knitting, felting, sewing, beading and more.
This year’s Featured Instructor is Robbie LaFleur, an expert in Scandinavian textiles. Robbie will take folks arts ‘to the edge’ in her course Scandinavian Fringe Embellishments , which will teach a variety of traditional techniques for embellishing clothing and homegoods. Robbie will also give a presentation “ From Virgins to Spaceships: A Visual Journey Through Norwegian Tapestry” on Saturday, Feb 17.
