Taste the Waste

Dec 11, 2018
05:30 PM until 07:30 PM

Join us for a special evening designed to reduce food waste. TASTE THE WASTE will feature Chef Zach Marquardt from Tiny Diner, Shannel Winkel from The Bird Rocks, Lachelle Cunningham, and St. Paul College culinary students who will create a menu transforming recovered food into small plates for an incredible experience. Thanks to Twin Cities Co-op Partners who are donating the food for the evening - their organization does a great job of keeping their food waste OUT OF THE LANDFILLS - 77% of the waste created by their business is either recycled or composted!

Each ticket includes dinner, a FINNEGANS beer, tax and gratuity. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit MN350: Building a Climate Movement in Minnesota. Their vision is to return our climate to the safe level of 350ppm of CO2 – or lower – in a way that best promotes a just and livable future. MN350 believes this change in our climate will be achieved through a fundamental shift in our society, such that climate justice and sustainability for all living species is the lens by which all behavioral, political, economic, and social decisions are made.

WHY is Food Waste so important? The good news is we actually produce enough food to feed the world. The bad news is that 40% of our food is wasted - literally left on the trees or thrown in the garbage.

About 40% of all food in America is never eaten. That's like buying five bags of groceries and dumping two of them in the trash before you even bother bringing them home.

An average American family of four spends about $1800 a year on food they don’t eat.

Reducing food waste by even one-third could feed 50 million people.

Come learn more about how you can reduce food waste and enjoy a great meal!
