Unravel: (1) to separate or disentangle the threads (2) to free from complication or difficulty; make plain or clear; solve. Unearth: (1) to dig or get out of the earth; dig up (2) to uncover or bring to light by search, inquiry (3) to reveal or discover especially by exhaustive searching.

Drawn to the unique quality of wire mesh as her medium Kristi Kuder enjoys its ability to both reflect and filter light as well as how the constructed shapes tend to invite the viewer to look beyond the surface into the more intimate space within. But it is often in the unravelling of the delicate weave that Kuder finds most intriguing and rewarding.

With a more abstract take James Scherbarth’s paintings are a reflection of his Celtic ancestry as well as traditions in mark making, written language, texture, and layers. In his art making Scherbarth will intuitively construct, deconstruct, collect, blend, erase, blur, mark and clarify while also creating new landscapes, language and patinas.

Originally from Breckenridge, MN, Kristi Swee Kuder is a fiber artist and sculptor with studios in Minneapolis and in west-central Minnesota. Her work has been accepted into numerous juried exhibitions in galleries throughout the region including the Artistry, Northfield Artists Guild, MCAD, Textile Center of MN, Flow Artspace, White Bear Center for the Arts, and the MN State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition. She is a Jerome Fiber Artist Grant recipient, a Women's Art Institute Alumni, as well as an SDA Travel Grantee. Kuder is a graduate from Minnesota State University - Moorhead with a BS degree in Art Education.

James Edward Scherbarth is an award winning artist recently featured in Wabi Sabi: Painting with Cold Wax by Serena Barton and in the definitive resource Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations by Rebecca Crowell and Jerry McLaughlin. He maintains a working and teaching studio in the historic Northrup King Building in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. Here he shares his process and his approach to achieving authentic abstraction through his class Process, Purpose and Passion: Oil & Cold Wax Abstract Painting. In September 2016 he enjoyed the opportunity of sharing this workshop with an international group of artists at Loft 11 in Paris, France. Jim grew up in the Minneapolis, Atlanta and Detroit areas which instilled in him a global awareness, the thrill of new experiences and a passion for travel. These influences continue to inform his art as he explores our world culling inspiration from both urban and exotic places ranging from the UK, Ireland and France to Vietnam, Mexico and Peru.
