Feb 17, 2013
03:00 PM until 05:00 PM

The Bloomington Symphony Orchestra will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the group’s founding by paying tribute to the many “handprints” that have been left on the orchestra community.

The concert will feature the world premiere of Handprints, a piece commissioned by the orchestra and composed by the BSO’s former Music Director, Steven Amundson. The homage to Bloomington and its prominent ethnic heritage continues with a festival of music by Scandinavian composers, including Suite No. 1 from Peer Gynt, by Norwegian Edvard Grieg, Hugo Alfvén’s Swedish Rhapsody No. 1 (Midsommarvaka “Midsummer”), and Symphony No. 2 “The Four Temperaments” by the great Dane, Carl Nielsen.
