Guthrie Theater Annual Gala

“Tonight, Tonight!” was chosen as the theme for the Guthrie’s yearly fundraising gala to coincide with the theater’s sold-out opening night of West Side Story on June 22. Rene’s Latin Dance & Music Studio dancers ushered more than 450 guests into the elegantly transformed, 20,000-square-foot scene shop for a three-course meal created and executed by Culinaire. The wait staff wore themed West Side Story T-shirts, jeans, and high-top sneakers. After the show, the “I Feel Pretty” after-party took place at the Guthrie’s Sea Change restaurant. In a partnership with Juxtaposition Arts, a student artist created a live digital piece of art inspired by West Side Story. More than $1.1 million was raised for the Guthrie’s educational programs—exceeding the goal by 40 percent—and an additional $57,300 was raised for hurricane relief for Puerto Rico.
