The microbrewery and brewpub trend isn’t tapped out yet! In fact, we now have more than 100 breweries in Minnesota. Robbinsdale’s Wicked Wort Brewing Co. is one of the newer additions, and has been bustling since its grand opening in late January. Go there for the nutty Geno Stout or citrusy Upper Deck IPA, and look for servers from Pig Ate My Pizza (the brewery’s neighbor) to take your order.
I’m a big fan of chef Jonathan Kaye’s Heritage Breads, baked with non-GMO organic wheat. Kaye’s breads, fresh baked stout-infused chocolate mini cakes with Irish cream frosting, and huge pretzels and cookies all contain local heritage Sunrise Flour Mill flour and taste delicious.
Take time for a spot of tea with the beautiful Jane Austen series from Bingley’s Teas, available at local tearooms and gift shops. Certified tea specialist—yes, there is such a thing!—Julia Matson creates unique flavors of various teas named after Austen’s characters, such as Compassion for Mrs. Bennet’s Nerves and Anne Elliot’s Hope. She encloses the loose tea blends with a beautiful silk bookmark for those who love to read while they sip.
