Sue Z.'s Local Finds: March 2017
Twin Cities foodie Sue Zelickson shares her favorite new local eats for people—and dogs
Missing the heat of summer? Cook up some chicken wings and slather on Cry Baby Craig’s pickled habañero and garlic hot sauce, created by local chef Craig Kaiser. The habañero peppers are not cooked, but instead pickled to lend a tart bite to the heat. (crybabycraigs.com)
Find new, creative ways (besides smoothies) to use your blender or Vitamix with local chef Robin Asbell’s latest cookbook, 300 Best Blender Recipes. Learn how to make spice mixes, soups, burgers, baked goods, baby foods, and even products such as scrubs, masks, and lotions. Blending is an easy, fast way to incorporate more whole foods into your diet.
If you’d like to give your four-legged friend more whole and healthy foods, Amelia & Holly’s canine treats are made with organic ingredients, such as pumpkins and apples, from MN farms. The vegan biscuits are also gluten and grain free so dogs on any diet can enjoy. The treats come in adorable names and shapes, such as Minnesopaw Love, in the shape of our state. A portion of the profits is donated to nonprofit organizations, and treats are donated to local rescue dog centers.
