Sue Z.'s Local Finds: October 2016
Twin Cities foodie Sue Zelickson shares her favorite new discoveries: Taking Stock Foods and Dumpling and Strand Noodlers at Large
Do you love homemade broth for soups and stews, but don’t have the time to make it? Molly Clark and Maddy Kaudy of Taking Stock Foods do the work for you, simmering their broths for 12 hours to get all the nutrients out of organic chickens and vegetables. It fits right into the healthy bone broth craze, plus, they offer delivery or pick up for subscription orders to keep you healthy all winter long. Check the website for variations of broth recipes including a ginger turmeric broth and porcini mushroom chicken breakfast broth.
Broth and noodles go well together, don’t they? Kelly McManus and Jeff Casper of the Dumpling and Strand Noodlers at Large are creating fresh Asian and Italian noodles in St. Paul. These noodles are never dried, cook in three minutes, and, as the package states, “changing the role of noodles on your plate.” The Noodlers are committed to supporting Midwest farmers and are adding whole wheat and gluten-free choices. Ask for their toothsome bites at the Kingfield Farmers Market throughout October.
