Head to Toe

2445 Nicollet Ave. S., Minneapolis, 612-871-0303

Head to Toe is the sort of business that results when two best friends, unfulfilled in their jobs, daydream about opening a salon and boutique—and then actually do it. Fiona Burr, formerly of Accolades Salon Spa, does the styling while gal pal Rita Puskas helps manage the year-old Minneapolis venture. They both keep Head to Toe stocked with an ever-changing assortment of hip fashions for men and women, most of which you won’t find elsewhere in the Twin Cities. The open, jewel-toned space is loosely divided—salon stations on one side, and clothing and accessories on the other. Customers flow easily from foils to fitting rooms when their new ’do needs a new dress to match. And maybe a clutch. Or a pair of broken-in cowboy boots. The casual and modern merchandise—flirty frocks, skinny jeans, vintage jewelry, graphic tees—reflect the urban Whittier neighborhood that Head to Toe calls home. Like the bustling Spyhouse coffee shop next door, Head to Toe is a community hangout (Burr and Puskas have been known to throw impromptu dance parties), and a place where people drop by for the conversation—as well as a cut or color.
