A handful of buzzworthy niche brands are coming to Debut, the latest retail shop to open in the Mall of America’s new north wing. The innovative concept pairs goods from a mix of Minnesota and national brands, many of which are new to the Twin Cities market, that emphasize craftsmanship and classic style. The selection is dominated by menswear, including North hats, Explorer pants, and fleece pullovers from North Loop shop Askov Finlayson; rugged plaid shirts and wool sweaters by Woolrich; U.S.-made canvas and leather goods; functional yet stylish outdoor gear from Minnesota brand Fisher and Baker, and a new line of designer athleisure wear made by Champion. Additional items include luxe sheepskin slippers, home textiles, and cashmere women’s knitwear. Overall, it’s a nice curation of brands big (West Elm Local’s collection of artisan home goods) and small (Minneapolis designer Pam Mondale’s new Laurel Way jewelry line). • Mall of America
