In 2012, Mary Jo Hoffman, a stay-at-home mom and former Honeywell aerospace engineer with a knack for photography, began a personal project called STILL. The blog contains images of natural objects—usually gathered from near Hoffman’s St. Paul home and in Minneapolis—arranged into balanced compositions against a white background.
Thanks to its tranquil, minimalist aesthetic and contemporary style, STILL quickly gained a following, leading to a 2013 profile in Martha Stewart Living. Not long after, Target and West Elm came calling. In February, Target’s e-commerce site launches STILL by Mary Jo Hoffman, a line of soft goods including bedding, shower curtains, and decorative pillows featuring 35 of her textural images composed of feathers, rocks, birch branches, and various flora and fauna.
Also in February, West Elm debuts a collection of wall art on its home décor website. It showcases Hoffman’s images printed on clear acrylic in matte-gold metal frames, proving once and for all that Mother Nature is an artist. • target.com & westelm.com
