A Tale of Two Jewelers (and MartinPatrick3)
Filigree has moved out of MartinPatrick3, and JB Hudson has moved in
As Filigree Jewelers moved out of MartinPatrick3, the all-new Loupe by JB Hudson moved in with pieces like this Graff diamond heart tennis bracelet in 18k white gold featuring 35 heart shaped diamonds (18.00ctw) ($218,500).

There are a lot of ways to start this blog, like, "Locals know North Loop shopping has been hopping for a while," or "I can't count how many times we mention MartinPatrick3," or some cheesy play on words, like, "When one door closes, another door opens, and similarly, when one jeweler ships out, another sets up camp," but it comes down to this: Filigree Jewelers has moved out of MartinPatrick3, JB Hudson Jewelers has moved in with a new concept, and they're both throwing grand opening parties in the next two weeks.
Consider this your official invite:
Filigree's Grand Opening Party
While you shop and mingle, satisfy more indulgences with North Loop food and wine (think Edwards Desserts, North Loop Wine and Spirits, NOLO's, and the Loop). Sept. 27, 5-8 p.m., 210 N Second St., Minneapolis.
MartinPatrick3's (Re)Launch Party
Check out 22,000 square feet of new and improved MartinPatrick3, Marty's Barbershop, All Seasons, and of course, the new Loupe by JB Hudson Jewelers. Enjoy cocktails, bites, a donation wheel with excellent prize incentives, and more. Oct. 4, 5-8 p.m., 212 Third Ave. N, Suite 106, Minneapolis.
Now that we have the who/what/where/when, here's the why. Below are just some of the products each store has to start its new chapter:
After seven years in the Colonial Warehouse building where MartinPatrick3 resides, Filigree announced in June that it was ready to move out of its shared space, reunite the family—it had a bridal boutique on the third floor—and find one ground floor retail space in the North Loop.
Filigree has taken the place of C'est Chic in the Whitney Square Lofts, and owners Brent and Catherine Thies are excited to continue curating their high-end antique and vintage pieces with a special focus on modern fine jewelry and an increasingly growing collection of designer-signed pieces from brands like Cartier, Tiffany, Van Cleef and Arpels, and David Webb. They also happen to have the largest antique and vintage engagement ring collection in the state, and with the extra space, they can focus on adding modern classics, a modern diamond line in sterling silver priced from $350-$1,500, and more.
From above left, clockwise: GIA-certified ring, 2.46ct antique cushion cut set in a period Art Deco platinum and diamond mounting ($19,750). Modern bracelets: 3.18 tapered baguette-cut diamonds in sterling silver ($980); 3.75 tapered-cut baguette diamonds in sterling silver ($1,450); 1.94 round brilliant, tapered and straight baguette cut ($1,450). Art Deco 1930s bracelet, 18k yellow gold, emerald-cut diamonds and rectangular sapphires, signed by Van Cleef and Arpels (price upon request).
The Loupe by JB Hudson
A couple of weeks after Filigree's announcement, JB Hudson announced it was moving into MartinPatrick3 with a mini-store called the Loupe. If you're expecting the same Filigree set up with JB Hudson pieces, think again. The whole store is undergoing expansion No. 5 right now, so everything is getting a makeover, and JB Hudson promises its guests that the Loupe will be bringing pieces previously unavailable in the Midwest.
The exclusivity comes with a bit of a price tag—items range from $1,000 to $1,000,000, but whether it's a beautiful vintage piece or a sleek, modern, and top-of-the-line engineered watch, it will be worth it. Just make sure to buy it if it grabs your eye; with a frequently rotating collection, it could be gone the next day.
