Puppies and Pumps
Head to Stillwater for a night of cute and fab, adoptable puppies and drag queens

There are (adoptable) puppies.
There are drag queens.
Tickets are crazy affordable ($5!) with a dollar from each going to support Lucky Paws Midwest, a pet adoption agency in western Wisconsin. Plus, every drink you get is another dollar donated.
This past November was the first time that One23 Events, the company owner of The Loft at Studio J, put on the drag show benefit Puppies and Pumps. The event venue and planning team had already been hosting drag shows for two years to open their venues up more to the public, and with this event, they could do that and directly support a good cause.
“My favorite part is the way the Queens interact with the puppies,” One23 Events business development/expert planner Taylor Curley says.
While I can’t tell you what the Queens of the Night will be performing—last year their sets included Fleetwood Mac and the Spice Girls—I can give you a preview of the dogs that Lucky Paws Midwest will be bringing:

Even if you aren’t planning on bringing home a four-legged friend to your house (most people who attend the event are not), the night is full of chances to cuddle some puppies, support both the pet rescue community and the drag queen community, and take in some fantastic entertainment.
Before the show begins, guests can enjoy a casual cocktail hour complete with a photobooth with the puppies. (For those who want to grab dinner or a small bite beforehand, The Loft is near restaurants such as Mad Capper, Brick & Bourbon, and Lolo.)
Carley Ryan, who has been a volunteer at Lucky Paws Midwest for about a year and a half, says she loved meeting new people who had never heard of Lucky Paws Midwest and bonding over everyone's pet adoption stories. Still, what took the cake was later that evening: "My favorite memory was seeing George (a Lucky Paws alumni that I adopted) walk down the runway with one of the queens at the end! They danced to 'Who Let the Dogs Out,' and it was the perfect way to end the night!"
Check out Puppies and Pumps on Jan. 11, 7 p.m., at The Loft at Studio J.
