Style + Shopping Nov. 6-19 || Couture, holiday markets, fundraisers

Here are some of the top Twin Cities style and shopping events for the next two weeks:

Style Speaks Volumes V

Join the Stillwater Library Foundation for a fundraiser that combines fashion and literature. The event includes a meal at Revé and a fashion show with local authors as guest models. After the show, shop shop the styles at Sash, Matt + Nate, and Enchanté, peruse the Valley Bookseller that will be on-site, and chat with some authors. Nov. 8 and 9 @ Revé Bistro and Bar, 200 Chestnut St. E, Stillwater, stillwaterlibraryfoundation.org.

Fusion + Fashion at First Avenue

Go to the iconic First Avenue for a fashion show inspired by the hundreds of musician stars on its walls. The Northland chapter of IIDA has more than 20 teams competing for the top look this year, and like always, the challenge isn’t just the annually changing theme—designers also have to use building and design industry materials for at least half the outift. Read more about the process hereNov. 9 at 8 p.m. @ First Avenue, 701 N First Ave., Minneapolis, iida-northland.org.

Fashion Meets Poetry Show

Fashion Meets Poetry founder and author Lisa Harris’ annual fashion show is back with local models, local designers, real inspiration, and the idea that bravery and beauty are one and the same. Learn more about Harris and her book Unveiled Beauty before you goNov. 11 from 6-9 p.m. @ Five Event Center, 2917 Bryant Ave. S, Minneapolis, fashionmeetspoetry.com.

A Handful of Holiday Markets

Minnesota Monthly editor Erik Tormoen rounded up some of the holiday markets to keep on your radar this season. One big upcoming one that’s not on the list is the Minneapolis Holiday Boutique at U.S. Bank Stadium. With more than 1,000 Midwest artisans participating, DIY gift stations, and outdoor and fashion inspiration (the latter provided by local Project Runway alum Christopher Straub), and even a Festival of Trees, anything you could want for the holidays is here. Go for the live music and prizes on Friday’s Ladies Night Out or go for the tea and cookies on Sunday. Nov. 9-11 @ U.S. Bank Stadium, minneapolisholidayboutique.com.

Custom Couture with Samantha Rei

Project Runway alum Samantha Rei has created a couture capsule collection inspired by Kate Spade and the way Rei wanted to commemorate her. Called Heart and Spades, the designs take on influences from Kate Spade’s Madison Avenue line and Frances Valentine. The collection will be publicly shown for the first (and possibly only) time at Hotel Ivy, and afterward, attendees can browse some of Rei’s favorite looks and accessories in Hotel Ivy’s LIVE Project Runway Accessory Wall. Nov. 10 from 7-9 p.m. @ Hotel Ivy, 201 S 11th St., Minneapolis, eventbrite.com.

Color Confident Style Experience

It’s easy to stick with the same three colors you know look good on you, but you’d be surprised to know the spectrum of hues that bring out your beauty. Join Brilliant Chic LLC to create a personal style guide that celebrates you and includes your color code (across wardrobe, hair, and makeup), flattering silhouettes, and tips on patterns and accessories. Nov. 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. @ Caribou Coffee, 3354 Rice St., Little Canada, eventbrite.com.

Meet Nicole Miller at DUGO

While this event is a little more difficult to get into, it’s worth mentioning: Acclaimed American fashion designer Nicole Miller will be joining DUGO in Edina for a breakfast at Crave Edina, Q&A session, and shopping party and trunk show. Nov. 16 from 9:30 a.m.-noon @ DUGO, 3601 Galleria, Edina, eventbrite.com.
