Moe on Minnesota
The Wits host explains why the stereotypes are all true
John Moe arrived in Minnesota five years ago from the West Coast, having refused to believe the stereotypes about life around here (or at least to act on them): the terrible cold, the terrible aloofness, the terrible accents, etc.
The host of Wits on Minnesota Public Radio thinks differently now. Not that the stereotypes are wrong. In fact, they’re all true, he argues—strangely, wonderfully true.
It’s funnier, of course, when he tells it, which he did at a recent Wits show, reading his essay for Minnesota Monthly in a slightly abridged form.
