The American Swedish Institute’s Cocktails at the Castle celebrates its new glass exhibit
Event: Cocktails at the Castle was held Thursday, July 25, at the American Swedish Institute.
The Reason: To celebrate its exhibit Pull, Twist, Blow: Transforming the Kingdom of Crystal, the ASI hosted a traditional Swedish hyttsill, a social custom that originated in Swedish glassworks.
Swedish Stylings: In keeping with the hyttsill tradition, 1,500 guests indulged in salted herring, drank beer from Indeed Brewing, watched glassblowing exhibitions, and had the chance to make their own pint glass. Food from the ASI’s café, Fika, and frozen treats from Pumphouse Creamery were also available.
Entertainment: Swedish master glassblower Fredrik Nielsen created one-of-a-kind pieces while local bands Southside Desire and The Golden Bubbles provided background music.
