Jobs Despite Disabilities
Project SEARCH breaks into the gala scene, celebrating advances in the workforce for individuals with disabilities
Who, What, Where: The first annual Celebrations of Innovations & Outcomes Gala, held at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center, July 14.
Purpose: Project SEARCH helps young adults with intellectual and mental disabilities prepare for future jobs with year-long internships. Current interns showed off the skills they’ve learned and talked about their experiences.
See and be Seen: Over 450 supporters gathered to support the cause, and WCCO-TV’s Liz Collin kept the night rolling as the Master of Ceremonies.
Local Talent: Acoustic legend Billy McLaughlin serenaded the crowd while strumming out sweet notes on his guitar.
Start the Bidding: After ticket sales and a live auction, including vacations to Tuscany and Disney World, Project SEARCH raised about $100,000.
