New Ulm's Bavarian Blast Festival!

Come to New Ulm’s biggest festival of the Summer!  Bavarian Blast, now in its 12th year, takes place July 14th - 16th, 2017, with the pre-blast party on July 13th.  A German & American music festival, it features all sorts of music, including German-style bands, old-time, rock and country music.  Nationally-known musicians as well as local favorites take the stages all weekend long!  Camping is included on-site plus kid’s activities! (Free admission for 16 and under)!  


A few event highlights include the sauerkraut-eating contest, stein-holding competition, barrel rolling, dog races, a 5K/10K, Sunday morning polka service, Bavarian Blast parade, and more!  What’s a German festival without German food?!  Bratwurst, pork schnitzel, German potato salad, spatzle (with or without gravy), sauerkraut, apple strudel – is your mouth watering yet?! Of course, Bavarian Blast is a German-American music festival and you’ll be able to find both German and American food options to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.  Plan some extra time to explore all that New Ulm has to offer!  Schell’s Brewery, historic attractions, vineyards, museums, monuments, and more!  Learn how “Germans Have More Fun” in New Ulm! 

Event Description: 

  • Bavarian Blast: A German & American music festival.  Three full days (Fri-Sun) with a pre-blast on Thursday evening.  Pre-blast features performances by: Church of Cash (Johnny Cash Tribute Band), Transit Authority (Chicago Tribute Band), and Takin’ It To The Limit: An Eagles Tribute (with Collective Unconscious and The Fabulous Armadillos). Four stages featuring performances by: Squeezebox with Mollie B., Austrian Express, Alpensterne, Concord Singers, Fabulous Armadillos, Schell’s Hobo Band, Wendinger Band, Leon Olsen, Matt Hodek & the Dakota Dutchmen, The Bockfest Boys, New Ulm Municipal Band.

  • Free admission for 16 and under.  Weekend passes available.
