Foodie Halloween?

Restaurants don’t typically do much for Halloween—it’s a drinking holiday, don’cha know. But that hasn’t stoped chef Patrick Atanalian of Sanctuary from offering a five-course, $45 with wine-and-other-hooch pairings Halloween blow-out meal, both Friday and Saturday night. Eat scaaaary food, like wolves! Or at least pan-seared wolf fish. Check out the amusing “Thrills & Chills” Menu here, if only to enjoy a serious menu written in a dripping-blood font.

Chino Latino is also doing some special Halloween things, like offering Japanese chicken-heart skewers (I’m guessing the preparation is Japanese, not the chickens, but you never know with those zany Chino Latino’ers).

Moto-i, the Japanese sake brew-pub at Lake and Lyndale, is having a Halloween party too; the big draw seems to be the costume contest ($600 in gift-card prizes!) but there are also two-for-one small plates and discounted artisinal sake sake-bombs! I was there a few weeks ago and had a lovely okonomiyaki, that savory egg pancake; as of this writing they haven’t finalized the two-for-one menu, but if that’s on it I say a fun foodie Halloween would involve getting to moto-i early, commandeering a booth, and watching the costume contest unfurl while drinking artisinal sake (add bomb if you have a strong constitution) and gorging on Japanese bar snacks.

But that’s all I know about! All people, including restaurant owners, feel free to post any interesting food-related Halloween events in the comments.

Otherwise: Trick or treat everyone!

Just heard from the Sample Room, they're offering a half-price bottle of wine with food purchase and $3 bloody mary's (spooky ones, I hope) all day on Halloween. So get the kids hepped up on Halloween candy, drop 'em at grandma's, and head on down!

This isn't food-related, but for the price of a $10 passport Halloween night, you can take part in the second annual BOOs Crawl in Lowertown and enjoy a drink at Trattoria Da Vinci, Barrio, The Bulldog, Black Dog Cafe, Station 4, Rumours, Hat Trick Lounge, and Senor Wong.
