Who's Got Talent in the Twin Cities?

What talents lie within Minneapolis's neighborhoods? I have no freaking idea. Which is exactly why I volunteered to help judge the first annual Minneapolis Talent Show this Saturday evening in downtown Minneapolis, part of the MOSAIC Festival going on all day.

It's going down at 7:30 p.m. at Hennepin Stages, it's free, and it's completely, wonderfully amateur.

Q: What do you expect to see?
A: The performers are weighted toward our elementary and high school kids. There were two semi-finals already to sift the outliers. And I have heard promising potential appearances of everything from breakdance to drum corps to gymnastics to a 9-year-old Lebanese boy imitating Michael Jackson. Oh. Yeah.

Q: Where's Hennepin Stages?
A: Formerly the Hey City Theater, this space is on the same block, same side, as the Orpheum Theatre at 8th and Hennepin downtown.

Q: What qualifies you to judge anyone?
A: As far as I can tell, a willingness to show up, with very little information or preparation, 45 minutes before the show. Judge or be judged. See you there!
