Affordable John Derian!

It’s not going to be around long, so hurry, hurry: the much ballyhooed John Derian for Target Collection launches this Sunday, and will be pulled from shelves by October 26. New York decoupage artiste Derian has developed a loyal following for his nostalgic-if-slightly-creepy handmade glass platters, paperweights and other ephemera. At Ampersand, a single coaster with a bee on it is $25; a multi-piece wallhanging of a medical skeleton illustration is... Read more »

Ripe for the Picking

While searching for the most glamorous and gorgeous pieces to feature in our “Market Fresh” feature in the August 2008 issue, I came across Jen Violette, a rural Vermont artist who makes stunningly beautiful things in her converted-barn studio.
