Road to Gaviidae

Soleil Brule opened its new digs this week in Gaviidae Common 2 on the Nicollet Mall. Shop owner Jennifer Vervoort-Smith gave it a go in downtown Wayzata for almost two years, but she was already relishing the foot traffic in her new storefront when I stopped by yesterday. She made the move just in time for holiday shopping, adding several lines of locally made jewelry to her mix of imported furniture, lighting, textiles, glassware, and candles. Holiday Color for ’08: Green

This Saturday is the much-anticipated (as least from my perspective), Green Gifts Fair at Minneapolis’ Midtown Global Market. Show up between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and you’ll be treated to 40-plus retailers and artisans jam-packed with fun gift ideas, including Linden Hills Natural Home. They’ll be selling colorful wool and cotton “Minnesota Mittens,” made locally at the Winona Occupational Rehabilitation Center, a workshop for people with disabilities.
