The Grand View Lodge in Nisswa has taken some great steps in the past several years to create weekend experiences as well as make continued improvements to its nearly 100-year-old property, staying fresh and keeping vacationers coming back for more. No wonder its been named one of the Midwest’s top five resorts. (It also helps that the lodge falls within the popular Brainerd Lakes Area of Minnesota, which is bursting at the seams with year-round things to do and places to stay.) We’ve previously mentioned summer time getaways for the girls, brewfest weekends, and Cru, the property’s newer restaurant, which features a wine cellar of more than 2,000 bottles and a resident sommelier. This weekend brings another fine event for girlfriends or couples to enjoy.

De’Vine Winter Culinary & Wine Experience begins Friday evening with a wine dinner at the aforementioned Cru. Saturday is spent in culinary classes and tasting wine. Learn how to make risotto and sushi, and all about cheese. Taste fine wines from France and Italy and learn the “legacy of champagne.” Take a break and enjoy a soup taste-testing and then head to the de’Vine Grand Tasting, featuring more than 100 fine wines as well as flavors from many talented chefs. Enjoy a little port with your s’mores and then kick back for a fun evening of dueling pianos. If you’re still game on Sunday, finish up a delicious weekend with a champagne brunch.
If you can’t make it up this weekend, Grand View fortunately holds wine tastings every weekend on Friday and Saturday nights (listed through February). There’s also another wine dinner coming up on February 23.
